Q·01Why don't you charge per seat?+
Because incidents don't care how many engineers you have, and putting your whole team on-call shouldn't be a pricing lever. Usage scales with monitors and paging volume — the things that actually drive our costs.
Q·02How does paging overage actually work?+
We pass through our carrier costs (Twilio today) at cost for messages and calls to US, CA, and UK numbers. Destinations outside those three regions carry a 30% uplift. Hard caps and burst limiters are on by default so a runaway loop cannot run up the bill.
Q·03Can I self-host BlameTrail?+
Yes, on Enterprise. We ship a Docker Compose bundle for self-hosting today. You bring a Postgres and a Redis; we bring the services. Helm charts for Kubernetes are on the roadmap — not shipped yet.
Q·04What if I blow past my monitor limit?+
Nothing breaks. Monitors above your plan go into "observed, not billed"mode and continue to probe, but they don't trigger paging or AI recaps until you upgrade.
Q·05How is my data encrypted?+
TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256-GCM at rest for incident bodies, diff excerpts, and paging payloads. Secrets are encrypted with a tenant-specific KEK backed by AWS KMS (or your KMS on Enterprise).
Q·06Can I change plans mid-month?+
Yes. Upgrades are prorated to the day and take effect immediately. Downgrades apply at the next billing period.

No timed trial— we don't do the 14-day countdown. The Free plan is free forever on 2 monitors, with 7-day incident history, 3 commit analyses per month, and Slack notifications.
